What if I want to assign to individuals?

In the first release of our new assignments feature, it will not be possible to assign an assignment to individual students. We are working on the ability to assign work to individuals and we hope to release this feature shortly but in the meantime, we would recommend you use the existing assignments feature to do this.

What if I want to assign work to multiple classes?

In the first release of our new assignments feature, it will not be possible to assign an assignment to multiple classes. We are working on the ability to assign work to multiple classes and we hope to release this feature shortly but in the meantime, we would recommend you use the existing assignments feature to do this.

When else is coming to Assignments?

We will keep you updated as and when we release new features. We anticipate this being over the summer term. Some features to expect are the ability to assign work to individuals and multiple classes and question-level analysis for assignments.

Can I see my other colleagues' assignments?

You are able to create an assignment for any class via your Teacher Dashboard and you will be able to see assignments created by your colleagues. We will be releasing the ability to duplicate and assign another colleague's assignment to your class in the near future.

What does the reattempt metric mean?

The attempt count for a nugget in an assignment is the number of times that nugget has been completed during the start and close time, if multiple attempts are allowed.

If a nugget is reattempted outside the start and end/ late hand-in date of that assignment, this will not be reflected in the reattempt figures.

If reattempts are not allowed, you will see the results of the first time a nugget is completed between the start and the close time. Each additional time a nugget is completed between the start and close time will not count towards the assignment.

What do the assignment statuses mean?

Assignments have 5 statuses:

  1. Draft - You have created an assignment but have not given it a start or due date and it is not assigned to anyone.

  2. Scheduled - The assignment has been set up and is ready to go, but students cannot see it yet.

  3. Started / In Progress - The assignment is ongoing and students can complete it.

  4. Ended / Overdue - The assignment due date has passed but late submissions are allowed. This status will only appear if late submissions are enabled.

  5. Closed - The assignment is closed and cannot be completed by students. A tick will show on the Assignments dashboard. Students cannot access the assignment but can view details. Any attempts of assigned nuggets after the close time will not count towards the assignment.

What difference will students see?

In the first iteration, students will be able to see the number of nuggets in an assignment and instructions for that assignment.

How does new assignments work with different time zones?

The new assignments feature will work off the same time zone as the device you are using to create it.
