Teacher Dashboard: Markbook tab – seeing all scores

Modified on Tue, 27 Aug at 10:36 AM

The Markbook allows you to view your students' progress in each nugget. This is a great way of identifying areas your students have mastered and where you might want to dedicate more teaching time. You can also dig deeper into an individual student’s attempts if their score seems lower than expected.

How to use the Markbook

To start, ensure that you have selected the correct course in the Course drop-down menu. You should also select the right strands in the Strands filter, as it will default to only showing results for diagnostics.

By clicking on a cell, you can see a full breakdown of a student's attempt, including the time a student spent on the learning material and each question.

If a student has a low score and has not spent time viewing the learning materials, you can remind them how to go back and check these by searching for the nugget and attempting it again. You can also see where they answered correctly, incorrectly or if they skipped a question.

You can also customise your Markbook by using the Options drop-down:

Toggling 'Coloured cells' on will make the scores on the page appear as block colours according to the students score, which could make reviewing the data easier.

If you would like to only view nuggets completed by your learners, rather than the entire course, select 'Attempted nuggets only'.

If you would like to track the nuggets completed within a specific time period, you can timestamp your Markbook using the Time drop-down menu.

Downloading data from the Markbook

It is possible to download data from the Markbook into an Excel spreadsheet for reporting or further analysis. To do so, simply click on ‘Options’ on the right hand side and select 'Download as Excel’.

Note: Make sure you have the correct time frame and course selected before downloading the data.

Why is my Markbook blank?

If there is no course assigned to your class via the Class Admin tab, then your Markbook will not load and you may encounter an error message.

Your Overview tab will look like this, telling you there are no courses assigned:

To ensure your students have access to work on CENTURY, it is important to make sure that you have a course assigned via the Class Admin tab. As soon as your students start to complete work on CENTURY, the results will appear in your Markbook.
