What’s new to the Assignments feature?
The update includes:
Highly-requested features for more control over your assignments, such as start/end times, late submissions, and multiple attempts
Enhanced reporting with average scores and time spent across all students
More improvements coming very soon!
How to create assignments for a single class
1. In your Teacher Dashboard, select the class in which you'd like to set an assignment.
2. Go to the Assignments tab, and click 'Create Assignment'.
3. Complete the following details:
The name of the assignment, and its instructions (if any).
Select a subject from the drop-down menu. The subjects assigned to your class will show up first on the list, with all other subjects available below.
(Optional) You can enable late submissions. This is set to 1 week by default, but can be changed to permit submissions up to 1 month after the due date.
(Optional) You can allow multiple attempts of the assignment. This is set to ‘Yes’ by default, and enables learners to submit an unlimited number of attempts within the set time period. This option is helpful for letting students improve their score on the assigned nuggets.
Select a start and end time for the assignment. You can set an assignment to start up to a year in advance, while the due date has to be within 60 days of the start date.
4. Then, click ‘Create’.
5. Once your assignment is created, click on the ‘Add Nuggets’ button. You can filter by course or strand, or search for a specific nugget. Each assignment can have up to 30 nuggets. Then, click ‘Add’.
6. A pop-up message will appear to confirm that your nuggets have been successfully added. This means your assignment is now set to your class and will be available to students on the start date.
7. To change your assignment, select the assignment and click ‘Edit’ on the Assignment Settings section. If you are editing an assignment that is in progress, you are not able to change the start time.
Note: Completed assignments cannot be edited.
How to create assignments for multiple classes at once
The multi-assign feature is an easy way for you to set an assignment for more than one class using the following steps.
Go to your Teacher Dashboard, then select the ‘Assignments’ tab.
Click ‘Create assignment’, then select ‘For Classes’.
Here, you can select up to 50 classes to set the assignment to, including your colleagues’ classes. Click ‘Next’.
Complete the assignment setup as you would a regular assignment.
Note: Assignments created using this method will share the same setting, e.g. start times and dates. If you would like to assign the same assignment for multiple classes but with different settings, we recommend using the Duplicate Assignment feature instead.
Once it is set up, you can now view all the classes that have been set the assignment within the Assignment Settings page. You can also add other classes by clicking ‘Assign to classes’ or remove them by clicking the minus icon.
How to create assignments for individual / groups of students
CENTURY’s assignments feature enables you to set an assignment to an individual student or a group of students, by following these instructions.
Go to your Teacher Dashboard, then select the ‘Assignments’ tab.
Click ‘Create assignment’, then select ‘For Students’.
Here, you can select up to 50 students to set the assignment to, including students from other classes not assigned to you. You can use the class filter to easily find students from specific classes. Then, click ‘Next’.
4. Complete the assignment setup as you would a regular assignment.
Note: Assignments created using this method will share the same settings, e.g. start times and dates. If you would like to assign the same assignment for multiple students/groups but with different settings, we recommend using the Duplicate Assignment feature instead.
Once it is set up, you can now view all the students that have been set the assignment within the Assignment Settings page. You can also set the assignment to a class by selecting ‘Add classes’, or add other students or groups by clicking ‘Add students’.
To view the Assignment Markbook, click on the student or group in the Students section. You can then view their completion status, scores, and time spent on the assignment.
How to duplicate assignments
Duplicating assignments allows you to copy and set an assignment to other classes in your organisation.
1. To duplicate an assignment, select the three grey dots in the right hand corner of your assignment and select ‘Duplicate to other classes’.
2. You can then set your assignment for up to 20 classes.
3. You will be prompted to update the start date/time and the end date/time. If this is the same for each class, you can click on the arrow icon on the right hand side to copy your choices to all classes. Then click ‘Duplicate’.
4. Your assignment will now be set to your selected classes for your selected dates.
How to delete assignments
You are able to delete assignments from your class if their status is either Draft, Scheduled or In progress. You are unable to delete assignments that have been marked as Completed.
To delete an assignment:
Select the assignment you wish to delete from the Assignments tab of the Teacher Dashboard.
Click the Settings tab at the top of the screen. Click on the three dot menu in the top right corner.
Click 'Delete Assignment'.
You will then see a message asking you to confirm if you would like to delete this assignment. Click 'Delete' to continue. Your assignment has now been deleted.
Note: If your assignment is In progress and students have already completed some nuggets towards it, you will no longer be able to view this progress in the Assignments Markbook once deleted. However, all student progress will still be visible in your Class Markbook.
Assignment statuses
Each assignment has a status, viewable in the Assignments tab or by clicking into an assignment.
Reporting on assignments
The new Assignments feature provides enhanced reporting on your assignments. The Assignments tab shows the following:
How many students have completed the assignment
Average score achieved by students across all nuggets in the assignment
Average time spent by students on each assignment (which includes a total of all attempts if multiple attempts is switched on)
Clicking into an assignment will take you to the Assignment Markbook, which displays individual results for each student, including their scores, completion status, count of attempts in the grey box next to their scores, and total time spent.
You can also click on a student’s score to view further analysis of their performance in each nugget, including how much time they spent on learning material and which questions they answered correctly or incorrectly.
This is a developing feature and we would really appreciate your feedback as we continue to improve setting work on CENTURY. You can do this by selecting the question mark above your avatar in the bottom left hand corner and clicking ‘Any other feedback?’.

What counts as a reattempt?
The attempt count for a nugget in an assignment is the number of times that nugget has been completed during the start and close time, if multiple attempts are allowed.
If a nugget is reattempted outside the start and end / late submission date of that assignment, this will not be reflected in the reattempt figures.
You can find the reattempt figures in the grey box next to each student’s scores in the Assignment Markbook.
If reattempts are not allowed, you will see the results of the first time a nugget is completed between the start and the close time. Each additional time a nugget is completed between the start and close time will not count towards the assignment.
How do assignments work with different time zones?
The new Assignments feature will use the same time zone as the device you are using to create it.
