How to set up the Fundamentals Assessment

Our Account Management team will have set up a class on CENTURY called ‘**English & Maths Fundamentals Assessments’.

Once trainees are added to this class, they will be able to complete the Assessment.

Staff with manager permissions can add a trainee to classes. For those who already have a CENTURY account in your organisation, follow these steps:

1.Go to the Class Admin tab on CENTURY

2.Click in to the ‘**English & Maths Fundamentals Assessments’ class

3.Click ‘Add existing student’ in the Students section

4.Search for the trainee(s) you wish to add to the class and click the checkbox, then click ‘Add’

Please follow the instructions in this help page to add a new trainee who doesn’t already exist on the platform to the class.

How to complete the Fundamentals Assessment

In order to complete the Fundamentals Assessment, trainees simply need to log on to CENTURY and complete both Fundamental Assessments. These will either be at the front of their pathway, or trainees can use the subject filter in the top right and switch to ‘Other Subject’ to see them.

They will then see both Fundamentals Assessments and can choose which one they wish to complete first by clicking ‘Start’.

If trainees are using mobiles to complete their Assessments, our top tips can be found here.

The assessments will disappear from here once completed.

How to view the results of the Fundamentals Assessment

As tutors, a trainee’s Assessment results can be viewed in the Markbook tab of the class ‘**English & Maths Fundamentals Assessments’ of the Teacher Dashboard. Click here for more information on how to use the Markbook.

Scores of 70% or more are considered a pass, and the trainees won’t need to be placed on to the Fundamentals courses.

How to assign the Fundamentals courses

Any trainees that scored below 70% on their Assessment will need to be assigned the Fundamentals Courses on CENTURY.

You can do this by assigning trainees to one or both of the classes ‘**English Fundamentals’ and ‘**Maths Fundamentals’

1.To do this, go to the Class Admin tab on CENTURY

2.Click in to either the ‘**English Fundamentals’ and/or ‘**Maths Fundamentals’

3.Click ‘Add existing student’ in the Students section

4.Search for the trainee(s) you wish to add to the class and click the checkbox, then click ‘Add’

Trainees will then be able to work through these courses from either their My Path or My Courses tabs on CENTURY.

How to reset/retake the Fundamentals Assessment

If a trainee needs to take their Assessment for a second time, they can be added to the class ‘**English & Maths Fundamentals Assessments Attempt 2’.

When they log on to CENTURY, they may need to filter their pathway again to ‘Other Subject’. They will then see their new Fundamentals Assessment to complete.

Tutors can then see the trainees results for both Assessment attempts in in the Markbook tab of the class ‘**English & Maths Fundamentals Assessment Attempt 2’ on the Teacher Dashboard.
