Setting specific homework to your class

There are various ways you can use CENTURY for setting specific homework, and some usage models you may like are:

Topic Diagnostics

  • When moving onto a new topic, set the topic diagnostic for your learners to complete as homework. This will allow your learners' pathways to be updated to reflect their individual learning gaps in the topic and you will be able to view the topic misconceptions using the data from the Nuggets Tab to help support your teaching plan.

Homework

  • You can also set specific nuggets within a topic as homework to introduce your learners to the concept ahead of your lesson.

Align with weekly lesson plans

  • Set your learners nuggets which align with your learning for that particular week and ask the learners to work through these nuggets. Once all of your learners have completed the nuggets, you can analyse the data in the Nuggets tab of the Teacher Dashboard to discover any class misconceptions and use this data to inform your teaching.

Past Exam Questions

  • Set your learners past exam questions using Task Assignments. You can use the homework to determine which areas of revision to focus on and set subsequent follow up nuggets for your learners to complete as homework.

Revision Prep

  • Set or reset your learners’ diagnostics in the run up to exams so that their Pathway is updated to fill in their current learning gaps. You can also analyse the data in the Nuggets tab of the Teacher Dashboard to discover any class misconceptions and use this data to inform your revision.

Catch up support

  • If you have learners who are off school due to travel or sickness, set them nuggets on CENTURY to mirror what has been taught in class to ensure they are keeping on track with their work. You will be able to see when the work has been completed and the results on the Teacher Dashboard.

Nugget Assignments

  • You may wish to set nuggets from a course which has not been assigned to your learners such as nuggets from an English Literature text or from Maths Secondary Higher as a stretch and challenge task for any learners. Please note this will need to be done via Assignments not The Planner.
